“A personal (Tamworth) highlight.. astounding presence, lyrical flair, and comedic timing”
– Gareth Hipwell, Country Update Magazine
– Tommy Emmanuel, Australian guitar legend
“The wit and wisdom of his words conjures up comparisons with John Prine, Kinky Friedman, and Australia’s own Don Walker”
– Lou Bradley, Director, Australian Roots Music Awards
Tom Dockray is a kick-ass singer-songwriter and guitar player in the same way that Steven Seagal is a kick-ass action hero: his enemies all eventually perish in a fiery Russian helicopter inferno.
With a distinctly comic hue and a respectful nod to the blues, Dockray holds a mirror to the folly and indignity of life and love on planet Earth, often framing his lens through the voice of the village idiot.
His songs chronicle the absurdities of everyday western privilege amid a rich blend of blues, folk, and classic pop, all underpinned with exquisite guitar skills – think Tom Waits begrudgingly sharing Sunday dinner with a gabble of unwanted surprise guests Elton John, Randy Newman and Mississippi John Hurt.
Originally from the sleepy isle of Tasmania, Australia, Dockray now calls Copenhagen home. A crowd favourite on the Australian festival circuit, Dockray has also performed extensively in the US and Europe, where he has been busy cultivating a lively following
since relocating to Copenhagen, Denmark in 2017.
2018 shapes to be a busy year on the back of sell-out tours of Australia and Northern Europe in late 2017. Achingly beautiful current single ‘Here’s To Me & You’ is a portent of Tom’s second album due “sometime soon”.
His debut album One Finger Salute featured the single ‘Monopoly Money’ which was a finalist in the 2016 Australian Roots Music Awards, and his music has recieved rotational airplay in Australia, UK, USA, Denmark, Germany and Belgium.
